Trying to stay relevant and interesting while meeting the demands of the corporate Fashion world; which demands commercial viability is a tall order today. Most succumb to commercial pressures today; and in America even more so than in Europe.
Rodarte meets this challenge head on. It's not easy. Look at the clothes. They're contemporary; and have an original perspective; their clothes look like no others; yet are commercially viable and buyers will be satisfied. What a hideous display of corporate controlled Fashion we see today on most of the runways. Most designers today are being held hostage to the demands of retailers.
What a pack of Philistines!
Have they no shame? No. How are you suppose to keep your integrity as a designer; yet make a living in this cutthroat corporate fashion environment without going bankrupt?
Rodarte seems to have found a way at least for this season.
