Grand Theft Auto V was just released last month to the PS3 and Xbox 360 with its online component, GTA Online, suffering a rough launch on Tuesday. Naturally, Rockstar Games was asked what it has planned next for the series in an interview released Thursday.
"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do," Benzies laughingly told Develop Online. "We don’t know what GTA VI will be, but we’ve got some ideas. GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain't no rest between finishing V and then Online. Plus we have some other things – stuff, DLC, I don’t know how to describe it exactly – that we’d like to do, and we’ll pick the right ones."
Rockstar's number one priority right now is getting Grand Theft Auto Online stable and working. The developer stated in the most recent update that it is working around the clock trying to get issues with the online multiplayer straightened out.
As for possible future settings for Grand Theft Auto, co-writer Dan Houser previously stated that the series will most likely stick with an American setting. The power and memory of the PS4 and Xbox One could make the possibility of a GTA world possible.
