According to a report today from VG 24/7, Rockstar Games released a statement that they will not be able to help Grand Theft Auto Online players who’ve lost characters or rank in the GTA 5 multiplayer.
The statement, released through Rockstar’s support website, comes on the heels of a bevy of technical errors with GTA Online, including gamers losing their characters, items, ranks, apartments and cash.
Rockstar had originally said they were working on a permanent fix to this particular issue, but couldn’t make it work.
“For those asking about their lost characters or rank, those will not be able to be restored, so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we’re giving out this month will help you get back on your feet or to make your new life in Los Santos & Blaine extra sweet.”
The cash stimulus equals $500,000 of in-game money to anyone who has played the GTA 5 multiplayer since coming online on Oct. 1.
Rockstar hopes the move, which the developer announced last week, will alleviate any hard feelings over the rough launch, which included connectivity issues and in game glitches.
“For players who experienced cloud server errors, connection issues, and lost game progress and characters in these first days of GTA Online, we hope this GTA$ helps to facilitate a fresh start or makes your continued life in Los Santos and Blaine County extra sweet,” Rockstar said.
GTA Online gamers who played the GTA 5 multiplayer in the month of October will received two payments of $250,000 into their character’s bank accounts in the game.
Rockstar said today that they will continue to work on issues involving lost vehicles and will update the support blog when there’s more information.
