KBPI’s First Annual Locura Festival united forces with Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival, on Sept. 1. Jane’s Addiction was the main support, Circa Survive and Coheed and Cambria were the opening acts and Alice in Chains headlined the Rockstar Energy Drink main stage.
Perry Farrell is the lead vocalist, Dave Navarro is the guitarist, Stephen Perkins is the drummer and Chris Chaney is the bassist of Jane’s Addiction.
Navarro was spotted and the crowd cheered, as he made his way across the stage. Two female dancers were escorted to the top of the monitors on stage, as they sat on the swings above them. As the stage hands finished prepping them, the stage lights turned off and Jane’s Addiction began their concert with “Underground”. As the song began, the women were elevated and they swung along to the music.
Prior to “Been Caught Stealing” Farrell said he loved winter time in Colo. He went onto say the fans could expect them to return, then. He continued to build onto the song’s introduction and said it must be nice to be successful. He said once people reached a certain point of success, they could get away with murder and with stealing. Video of a mischief was on display, behind Navarro and Chaney. It received the most crowd participation, as the majority of the crowd sang along.
Footage of hooks piercing through the back of human flesh appeared on the screens, prior to “Chip Away”. As the stage remained dark, two females appeared in front of the two screens which were adjacent to each other on stage. As they crouched below, hooks were driven through their backs. When the lights turned back on, they were suspended in mid-air and performed a dance routine. Jane’s Addiction remained on the far right of the stage and played drums, as Farrell sang.
“Jane Says” closed out Jane’s Addiction’s recital. Farrell, Navarro, Perkins and Chaney met at center stage to perform the song. Perkins alternated between a steel drum and a set of bongos, as purple and green stage lights shined upon the orchestra pit. Afterwards, Farrell remained center stage. He continued to squatted, knelt down and reached out to the hands he could reach. He wished everyone a good night, as they parted the stage.
“Mountain Song”, “Just Because”, “Whores”, “Another Soulmate”, “Three Days”, “Ocean Size” and “Stop!” were also part of Jane’s Addiction set.
