KBPI’s First Annual Locura Festival joined forces with Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival, on Sept. 1. Carson Allen, Charming Liars, The Chuck Shaffer Picture Show, Beware of Darkness and The Dead Daisies graced the Coldcock American Herbal Flavored Whiskey Showcase Stage. Switchpin, Danko Jones, Middle Class Rut and Walking Papers dignified the Zippo Encore Festival Stage.
Carson Allen is the guitarist and vocalist, Gino Colletti is the guitarist, Joseph Tafoya is the drummer and Barzon Mallak is the bassist of Carson Allen.
An instrumental played, as members of Carson Allen made their way to the stage. Upon arriving at their designated areas, they began their set with “Time”. During the performance, Allen asked if everyone was having a good time. Colletti assisted with backup vocals. Afterwards, Allen mentioned they were from Denver and the crowd welcomed them with cheers.
Prior to “How It Goes”, Allen mentioned how he grew up listening to Alice in Chains and Jane’s Addiction. He went onto say how Carson Allen was honored to be opening the show, with them being on the bill with both bands.
Before ending Carson Allen’s recital with “Feel”, Allen encouraged everyone to join them at the tent. He said they would be autographing posters. As the song came to an end, Allen introduced his band mates to the crowd.
“Even If” was also part of Carson Allen’s set.
Zack Lopez is the guitarist and Sean Stockham is the drummer Middle Class Rut. Lopez and Stockham are also the vocalists. They were accompanied by a touring bassist, guitarist and drummer.
As Middle Class Rut walked onto the stage, they were welcomed with cheers and whistles. As Lopez provided the verses for “Busy Bein’ Born”, Stockham assisted him the chorus. Afterwards, Stockham removed his shirt and it revealed his ‘For Sale’ tattoo.
Stockham and Lopez switched roles, as Stockham provided the verses to “New Low”, and Lopez assisted with the chorus. As he began to sing and play drums, it received the most crowd participation as the crowd sang along.
After Lopez announced Middle Class Rut would end their concert with “USA”, the crowd maintained a circle pit from beginning to end. After the song came to an end, Stockham threw one his drum sticks into the crowd and they positioned themselves to obtain it.
“Born Too Late”, “Tied Up” and “Aunt Betty” were also a part of Middle Class Rut’s set.
