Rockstar announces 'GTA V' delay and new release date

Rockstar officially announced on January 31, 2013 that "Grand Theft Auto V" has been delayed until September 17. While the original release date was simply “Spring,” Rockstar usually releases their big name games in May. Here’s what Rockstar had to say about the reasons behind the delay.

In their announcement, Rockstar stated that “'GTA V' is a massively ambitious and complex game.” They go on to admit the game needs more polish in order to reach their standards. They also claim that the latest installment in the popular franchise will “be worth the extra time.”

While gamers will certainly be disappointed with the delay, it’s no secret that "GTA V" will have a larger focus than the other titles in the series. The game is the first one that features three main playable characters. Each of these characters, Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, have their own stories. Players will be able to switch between these characters at will. It is also reported that the game’s map will be larger than "Red Dead Redemption," "GTA IV," and "GTA: San Andreas" combined.

Rockstar is known for its excellent games, and hopefully "GTA V" will live up to gamers’ expectations on September 17.
