A Rockmart man has officially been charged in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Desmond Ray (Bud) Kinnmore.
Kinnemore's body was discovered on Jan 8, 2013 in a ditch near the intersection of Morgan Valley Road and Second Street in Rockmart. The discovery came after police received calls from area residents who reported hearing gunshots fired in the area.
The Rockmart Police Department announced that Demon Eugene Wilson, 33, of Rockmart has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Rockmart Police Department, with the assistance of the Polk County Criminal Investigations Division, Polk County Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been actively investigating Kinnemore’s death.
Wilson was arrested in January on unrelated charges and is the subject of an ongoing Federal firearms investigation. The agencies involved are following up on several leads at this time and more arrests may follow.
