Rob Michaels is an indie artist that has been around the block a few times, and is working hard at bringing his new album, S.O.S. to life with the help of PledgeMusic and Brian Craddock of Daughtry. The album is being recorded in Craddock's studio in Virginia. Rob heads back out there on September 4 to complete the album.
Here's Rob's story in his own words:
"Hello! I’m Rob Michaels. I’ve spent more than half my life working in the music industry, wearing many different hats-- and after many years, many ups and downs, and lessons learned, I’m diving head first into an exciting new project… but I need your help!
Like most, my dream of becoming a musician began very early, and I was fortunate enough to begin doing studio work at the age of 14. Over the years, I’ve worked as a writer, guitar player, producer, and just about every other position possible, including coffee maker. Through it all, I’ve held on to the dream of working as a solo artist, free to put my heart and soul into my music, while maintaining my integrity (which is difficult to do in this industry).
About three years ago, I enjoyed a short run of success after recording my EP, Revolver Sessions. I was then introduced to a producer who promised me the world, and I made the mistake of putting my entire career in his hands. Long story short, I put everything I had into creating a full length album, and was left with a bruised ego, no album, no money, and a whole lot of wasted time. This was one of those very tough lessons we all have to learn along the way – nothing worth doing in this life is going to be easy, and if you want something to happen, you’ve got to make it happen yourself.
After losing pretty much everything, I was in many ways re-born, re-energized, and had re-discovered the deep love and passion for music that I had somehow lost along the way. At the ripe old age of 30, I’m completely starting over. (Yikes!) I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, but the dedication I have for music has only gotten stronger, and as I hold on tight to my dream and my integrity, I’m pushing forward with everything I have.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a few solid friends who have stuck behind me through it all, including the very talented Mat Dauzat, and Brian Craddock (of Daughtry) who are presently helping me put together this new album. With the help and support from some amazing friends, family and loyal fans, I very recently recorded the first two songs at Brian’s studio, creating a solid foundation for the rest of the album. Unfortunately, creating an album is insanely expensive! This is where the support from you, my generous fans and friends, comes in.
To everyone who has taken the time to visit this page and learn about the project, I want to offer my complete and heartfelt thanks. Even if you can’t give any money, your support is appreciated more than you know! Please feel free to tell your friends about the campaign and share the free music via Facebook and www.robmichaels.com. Throughout my life in this industry, I have learned that fame and fortune have absolutely nothing to do with success. Connecting with fans, musicians, and fellow music lovers, building positive energy and creating a community, are the things that really matter. As far as I’m concerned, you are all a part of my family, and I welcome you all to be a part of this project!"
Rob only has 21 days left in his campaign and still needs to raise $6500. Can you help? I truly believe in this artist and hope that with your help we can bring his brilliant music to the airwaves and beyond.
