Good news! The Lt. Dan Band is coming back to Cantigny this year for the “Rockin’ for the Troops” fundraiser to help benefit OSOTAmerica (Operation Support Our Troops America). The fundraiser significantly impacts how the Fisher House at Hines Hospital is able to ship packages and otherwise support our United States troops. OSOTAmerica pays for the packages to be shipped.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, April 2nd about the return of Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band to Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois on Saturday, July 19th. Also appearing that day will be the Audio Adrenaline, The Voices and The Sempletons. Tickets for this great event go on sale May 1st. You can get yours at www.RockinForTheTroops.org.
This year will be the 9th annual Rockin’ For The Troops event; Cantigny’s way of helping our heroes with this musical effort. Each year people attend from all around for this all-day, 12-hour event. Although Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band were unable to be present in 2013, this year things will get back to normal. Besides the great selection of music, there is something for everyone of all ages in the family to partake in that day.
The event has become quite popular in DuPage County, Illinois as anyone can see each year from the long line of automobiles lined up on Roosevelt and Butterfield Roads to get to Winfield Road – where the main drive to the park is located. People are very passionate about our military in the Wheaton community, so that are patient when it comes to attending the annual event. Former military personnel even volunteer to help at the park that day in order to show that they appreciate all the work that goes into making the event a huge success! Besides that there a lot of people living in the area that previously served in the U.S. Military.
The day is one that supporters of our military can appreciate and Cantigny is the perfect location to host such an event! The Lt. Dan Band is the perfect headliner for the event!
The band formed out of jam sessions begun by Gary Sinise and Kimo Williams after they met at the Steppenwolf Theatre where they worked together on the production of Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire production. The two got others involved and in 2003, and after Sinise made and extraordinary commitment to the USO, the Lieutenant Dan Band was founded. They perform annually at home and overseas for the troops. Wheaton is one of their initial locations.
And they are back for another great year at another great “Rockin’ For The Troops event. Mark your calendars now to purchase your tickets beginning Thursday, May 1st and to attend on Saturday, July 19th. This is one concert you surely won’t want to miss!
