Douglas is now in the custody of the United States Marshals, says Officer Janel Sedevic who is a spokesperson for the Marshals office. The information provided does not indicate how Douglas was caught.
Douglas allegedly carjacked a van in the 800 block of West Irving Park Road in the Buena Park neighborhood on Friday morning. On Saturday, at approximately noon, police officers saw the van on the South Side and tried to curb it. However, Douglas took off, crashing into a Chevrolet Suburban at the intersection of Halsted Street and 55th Street on Chicago’s South Side. Donovan Turnage, 11, was a passenger in the Suburban and died in the crash. The van hit near the gas tank of the Suburban and the boy was ejected from the vehicle’s back seat.
Reportedly, Douglas is suspected of three carjackings committed last week and some robberies and other crimes in Chicago and Wisconsin.
