When last we reported, the Rock To Cure Cancer in Memory of Joey Ramone was being held on Long Island. Requested to assist by Kim Kelsey of Texas, who herself was infirm and unable to attend this year's event, the concert drew a crowd of several thousand and raised more money than any prior year. More than a dozen bands performed, and central Long Island rocked until 3am.
Plans are already afoot for next year's event, likely to be held at the same venue. Stay tuned for details. Those interested can go to Rock to Cure Cancer on Facebook and/or Steve Alexander or Unabashed Left on Facebook for further details or to donate to the project, designed to raise funds for non-invasive endocrine cancer treatment research. Cancer took former Indie Rocker and lead singer of the Ramones, Joey Ramone too young over a decade ago.
