As New York City’s Times Square turns its attention to celebrating the Super Bowl all this week, Broadway shows are also joining in the fun. This week, the hit show “Rock of Ages” will feature current and former football greats on their stage.

The first footballer player will appear tonight, Jan. 28, at the Helen Hayes Theatre when Green Bay Packer wide receiver Randall Cobb will make his Broadway debut. On Wednesday, Jan. 29, Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell will take the stage. Then on Saturday, Feb. 1, four-time Pro-Bowl running back Ahman Green will appear at the matinee show. Each player is scheduled to have cameo appearances with special lines and choreography throughout the performance.

“Rock of Ages” week-long celebration of the football championship is being called #BroadwayBlitz. In addition to the special appearances by the football players, members of the cast will also perform on Super Bowl Boulevard's Roman Numerals Stage, located at West 41st Street and Broadway, on Thursday, January 30. Other appearances will be on Super Bowl Sunday during the final hour before kickoff at the official NFL Tailgate Party at the Meadowlands Racetrack grandstand as well as at the Game Day Fan Plaza outside MetLife Stadium.

“Rock of Ages” is based on a book by Chris D’Arienzo and it uses the music of well known 80’s rock bands to tell the story of a young man and young woman who come to Los Angeles during the 1980’s. While they come for fame and fortune they find the love that each has been searching for in each other. The laughs and musical enjoyment come easy and often in this show which audiences have come to love over the years. In fact, this March will be the start of its sixth year on Broadway.
