Rock 'n' Roll Marathon & Half Marathon slated for March in Washington (Video)

The Rock 'n' Roll USA Marathon and Care First Half Marathon are slated for the nation's capital on Saturday, March 16. Both events start at 7:30 a.m.

Sponsors say it is the only marathon run entirely within Washington, DC. Pass the White House, Union Station and Washington Monument; and run along the National Mall and Anacostia River and through many quaint neighborhoods and by historic sites.

A related health and fitness expo takes place at the DC Armory on Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15.

Registration costs $125 for the half marathon and $140 for the marathon. Participants must register in advance online. Fees are non-refundable and include a T-shirt, SWAG bag and medal for finishers. You're also invited to parties and entertainment that weekend.

The courses are new this year, starting on Constitution Avenue.

The event takes place on St. Patrick Day Weekend, so participants can enjoy the Shamrock Fest near the finish line after the race.
