After careful consideration the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has announced the 2014 Inductees into the Hall of Fame. Over 700 voters (made up from members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation) chose from a list of nominees that included artists that became eligible for inclusion 25 years after the release of their first recording.

Once again this year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame offered fans the chance to participate in the voting process by going on line and choosing their favorites. The five top artist as chosen by the fans was then tallied with the other ballots as part of the process of choosing the inductees. This year, three of the top five fan choices made the list for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The inductees are:

Performer Category

Peter Gabriel

• Hall and Oates

KISS

Nirvana

• Linda Ronstadt

• Cat Stevens

Ahmet Ertegun Awards

• Brian Epstein

• Andrew Loog Oldham

The Award for Musical Excellence

• The E Street Band

For the first time ever, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony that is being held in New York City on Thursday, April 10, 2014 will be open to the public. The ceremonies in Cleveland in 2009 and 2012 as well as Los Angeles in 2013have already been opened to the public

“This year’s Hall of Fame Inductees really capture the passion of the fans,” said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “We’re thrilled to again be able to have the fans be a part of the show, especially as we bring the ceremony to Barclays Center and partner again with HBO and Playtone.”

“Brooklyn has always been a hotbed for rock and roll and we’re proud to continue that tradition by hosting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark. “Barclays Center has hosted many of the world’s biggest artists and we are looking forward to welcoming the new Inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as we celebrate for the first time ever in Brooklyn.”
