Rock legends and Hall of Famers are coming together once again to do what they love for music education. Play it Forward III will happen this Sunday Jan. 20th at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle. This is the third Play it Forward event for musicians and music lovers who want to show their support for a noble cause.
Like Play it Forward I and II, this event will be hosted by Music Aid Northwest and feature performances from local rock icons as well as emerging artists, who are graciously donating their time and talents for this special night.
Recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and founding members of Heart, Roger Fisher Steve Fossen and Mike Derosier, with their new project, Heart by Heart (Which also includes: Somar Macek, Randy Hansen, and Andy Baldwin)

A champion of music education....
Music Aid Northwest has been involved in helping evangelize music education since 2006, as well as assisting in fund raising for disaster relief and other benevolence projects.
In May of 2011, Governor Christine Gregoire signed House Bill 1329, also known as “The Music License Plate Bill." The bill made it possible to create and sell special “Music Matters” license plates to benefit music education programs in state schools.
Concerts like Play it Forward and Synergia Northwest played an important role in raising awareness and money of special license plates which became available to the public last January. The plates cost around $40 the first year and about $30 for renewal, on top of the regular license tab fees.
The manifestation of these special license plates was a result of a collective community effort. Members and associates of the not for profit organization, Music Aid Northwest have been working hard over the course of the last few years to raise money and awareness for the bill and to get the plates into the hands of Washington State drivers.

Music Aid Northwest Board Vice President Reek Havok pointed out that: “Support for Music education is at the heart of what Music Aid Northwest is all about. Many of us and other musicians throughout the area got our start with exposure to music in school. Unfortunately, funding for music education and appreciation has been severely cut over the years and this is our way to help support to continuation and reintroduction of these programs. This is the first event for us in partnering with the "JamDawgs". We both have similar missions and the promise of this and future partnerships with them is exciting.”
