Rochester, NY twin sister and brother killed by dump truck identified

Rochester, NY ( Peter H. Scrooby ) - Twin sister and brother Lynn McKernan, 40, of Rochester, NY and William McKernan, 40 of Penfield, NY a suburb of Rochester were indentified by Pennsylvania State Police as the two local residents killed in Dumore, Pa a town near Scranton, Pa Thursday.

The two were headed to New York City for the weekend when Police say Wayne Stephen Kichar, 33, of Jessup, Pa., lost control of the dump truck he was driving after failing to nagotiate a corner, struck an embankment sending the dump truck airborne shotly before 5 p.m. in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. 

The dump truck while airborne then struck the roof of the vehicle Lynn and William Mckernan were driving, shearing it from their vehicle. The dump truck then continued on, when another truck being opperated by David J. Constable, 41, of East Bangor, Pa., was involved after striking the back end of the dump truck.

The twins were pronounced dead on scene and the driver of the dump truck was hospitalized. Constable, the driver of the third vehicle and his passenger were not hospitalized.

Traffic was at a standstill for hours after the accident, Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating.
