Mr. Cheeks and Roc Mikey to perform at Cookie Wear

Mr. Cheeks and Roc Mikey will take the stage Friday evening (1/24) at the Cookie Wear location on Georgia Avenue. Also performing (and spinning only vinyl) will be DJ Candikrush and DJ B-Side. Cookie Wear hosts an event on the first Friday of every month featuring local and national talent.

Roc Mikey is a rapper and original member of DC's UCB go-go band. Mikey was a key element of UCB's success, and he toured nationally and internationally with the band. They had a #1 hit with the song "Sexy Lady". Roc Mikey is currently a solo artist, and he's promoting his new single "Young & Having Fun" from the upcoming album The Sacrifice.

Mr. Cheeks is a New York City rapper from the Lost Boyz, and best known for his 2001 solo smash "Lights, Camera, Action". The Lost Boyz were one of the biggest groups in hip-hop during the mid-1990s and went platinum with their debut album Legal Drug Money. Mr. Cheeks received multiple Grammy Awards and nominations for his collaborative work with Stephen and Damian Marley.

Cookie Wear is a boutique located in Petworth that carries their own clothing line Cookie Wear Couture, and apparel by other local designers, including Invaders by Ryan Waddy, GSU by Grindstone Universal, GODISHEUS by Head Roc, and DCR by Roc Mikey. Cookie Wear, which is open seven days a week, also sells a wide variety of unique items celebrating classic and contemporary music, film and fashion.
