Robson moving up at 2009 World Junior Chess Championship

In round 8 of the 2009 World Junior Chess Championship taking place in Argentina, GM-elect Ray Robson defeated GM Yangyi Yu of China. Ray thus moves up to a tie for 7th-13th place, with his 5.5 points, a point behind co-leaders GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and GM Sergei Zhigalko. Round 9 will be challenging for Ray; he is paired against the 2659-ranked GM Dmitry Andreikin from Russia.

The other U.S. player, GM-elect Alex Lenderman, fell in round 8 to strong GM Chao Li and presently has 5.0 points, good for a tie for 14th-24th place.
