Beloved actor, Robin Williams has passed away according to a Monday story by E! Online. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, but there are reports that the death was caused by suicide. Not surprisingly, Robin William’s publicist did not address the exact cause of death, but the sheriff's office suspects the death was caused by "suicide due to asphyxia".

As news spread of the most recent celebrity death, his millions of fans have taken to social media to express sadness at the loss. Over the course of his career, Robin Williams had starred in some of the most beloved and endearing movies of the modern age. From the childhood classic of “Jumanji” to his most recent work in the “Night At The Museum” series, Robin had a stunning career, and he truly left a huge hole in Hollywood with his tragic death.

Celebrity death hoaxes have been widely circulated on the internet since it became widely accessible, but it appears that this tragic event was no hoax. A Monday story by HuffingtonPost confirmed the sad news of Robin William’s death, and it also confirmed that police suspect the death was caused by suicide. Robin's wife issued a statement shortly following the announcement.

This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one if its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin's death but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions." - Susan Schneider (Robin Williams' wide).

During recent years, there has been growing calls for a reformation of the American mental health care system, and this may lead to further calls for fixing a broken system.

Hollywood has suffered the sudden death of two A-list stars this years. While Philip Seymour Hoffman’s died early in the year of an apparent accidental heroin overdose, Robin Williams suicide is perhaps the most shocking event in recent Hollywood history. It is not clear how the projects he was working on will handle this crisis.

Suicide can be one of the most painful ways for individuals to lose a loved one. Robin William’s death will reverberate through pop culture for years, and with any luck, maybe society will finally start to address the inadequacies of modern mental health care.
