Robin Thicke and his wife, Paula Patton, made an announcement about their separation on Monday, Feb 24. NY Daily News reported Thursday Feb. 27 that Robin Thicke is trying to win Paula’s affections back. The couple had been married for nearly 9 years and together for more than 20. The two were high school sweethearts and began dating while teenagers. The two had married on June 11, 2005 and have one 3-year-old son together.
While talking to People they stated together that it was mutual and they both will always have love for one another. They claimed that they will remain best friends but just decided they needed to separate at this point in time. Although the two claims it was mutual, Thicke’s response didn’t make the decision seem mutual. Due to this difficult time, Robin cancelled multiple of his shows since they made their announcement. He thanked his fans on Wednesday for all of their support while he is going through this difficult time.
The first cancelled concert was last Friday while he was trying to work things out with Patton. Once Thicke came upon the realization of Paula’s decision to end the relationship, he was said to “reluctantly agree.” The cause of their split was said to be building between the distance and Robin Thicke’s infidelity. Some are reporting that his Miley Cyrus performance at the MTV Video Music Awards sent Patton’s patience over the edge in her decision. A source told US Weekly that the whole performance he did with Miley Cyrus put a big strain on their relationship.
Robin Thicke reportedly begged and pleaded his estranged wife to defend his performance with Miley. He had also supposedly asked Paula to “stick with him” throughout this awards season. For the last couple of months the couple had been all smiles on the red carpet and put up a good front. Robin confessed on Thursday that he wants to win Paula’s heart back and is desperate to do so.
Although he claims he will prove to Paul that he is able to be a devoted husband, it seems Thicke is far from throwing in the towel when it comes to scandalous performances. When a TMZ reporter asked Robin Thicke if there will be any hot performances, he replied “Oh yea” with a smirk. He continued his tour by doing a concert in Washington, D.C. tonight. According to TMZ, Robin Thicke will not be out partying afterwards like he normally does.
