Robin Sachs dies, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' actor was 61

Robin Sachs, the actor most famous for his role as Ethan Rayne on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," passed away on Feb. 5 at the age of 61. According to the BBC, the actor's death was reported by his official website.

Sachs role as Ethan Rayne on the popular genre television series was that of a recurring character. He was a bad guy, but one that drifted in and out of story lines with creatures much worse than his magic user. Rayne was the long-time enemy of Giles, portrayed by Anthony Stewart Head, stretching back to Giles' "Ripper years."

Sachs was also a movie star, appearing in movies like "Galaxy Quest," "Ocean's Eleven" and "Norfolk." Sachs also appeared on "Babylon 5," "Star Trek" Voyager," and in an interesting move played Adam Carrington on the miniseries "Dynasty: The Reunion" when the original actor couldn't reprise the role.

He finished his career voicing characters in the "Mass Effect" and "Resident Evil" video game series.

Sachs, born in London, is survived by his ex-wife Casey Defranco, who called him a "wonderful person" and a talented actor. His website gave him a fitting goodbye, thanking him for the laughter and cookies.
