Robin Quivers, the adored-woman with radio’s most delightful laugh who has co-broadcast with Howard Stern on his radio show for more than 30 years, has revealed that she is battling cancer and has been doing so for the past year – but she is now disease-free, according to a New York Daily News report on Monday. The surprising announcement came on Monday morning’s Howard Stern talk show on Sirius XM.

Quivers, who is 61-years-old, revealed that she had a tumor on her bladder – which explains why she has been away from the Stern show for over a year – since May of 2012.

Quivers – broadcasting from her home - said she had a major abdominal surgery and a mass was removed from her pelvic area. She said that she has more recovery to do from the medical issue. She said her recovery involved chemotherapy, but she asserts that everything seems to be fine.

The report says that Quivers has been given a clean bill of health from her doctors.

Stern, 59, said, “I’ve got to be honest. I thought she was a goner.” He admits to getting chills when he hears her story. Previously, Stern said he would quit his show without Quivers. He has said, “Doing a show without Robin is like cutting off my left arm, or my right arm, or maybe both. She was my backbone. Where I would lose courage, Robin always had the courage… I could always rely on her.”
