Robin Quivers recently opened up on her fight with cancer, the several months-long battle being the reason she wasn’t able to be in the studio this 2013 with fellow speaker Howard Stern. 61-year-old Quivers shocked many fans and listeners of Howard Stern’s radio show this morning when she revealed her cancer battle, but also eased minds when she said she is now thankfully cancer-free, ABC reports this Monday, Sept. 9.
The 61-year-old Robin Quivers took the time today during Stern’s talk show to talk about how she won her fight against cancer, going through both chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The cancer itself had started earlier this 2013 in the endometrial tissue of Quivers’ uterus. Three months ago, she added, doctors had let her know she was now fully “cured” of her cancer.
“I gotta be honest, I thought she was a goner,” Stern told listeners today, saying he gets literal chills hearing about Quivers’ uphill but heartening story. “I can’t tell you how dire everything seemed.”
This May, doctors said they had found a malignant tumor as well in her pelvis. Several months of chemotherapy and radiation, as well as two invasive surgeries, kept her hospital and home-bound, but that didn’t stop the popular speaker from missing her time on the air. In fact, as Robin Quivers still stayed on the radio by speaking for the show from her home, she only missed two days on the air the whole time, so great was her commitment.
“I was so flabbergasted,” Stern said of the 61-year-old's drive. “She said the show was the only thing that gave her solace.”
“It never occurred to me not to be on the air,” concluded Robin Quivers. “When I was on the air, I was pain-free.”
Talk about passion. Were you equally surprised to hear that Robin Quivers opened up today on her fight with cancer? Perhaps the best news of all is that the radio spokeswoman beat it, and it seems happiest of all is Howard Stern.
