Robin Quivers, opened up to listeners of The Howard Stern Show on Monday, September 9, 2013, about her year-long absence from the studio. Howard Stern's co-host of over 30 years revealed she was battling cancer.
Quivers told listeners in June 2012 she had a major abdominal surgery to remove a mass the size of a grapefruit from her pelvic area.
Stern said they did not want people contacting her while she was going through this and that is why her diagnosis was kept private.
She was initially told by doctors that she may have to undergo surgery to remove her colon, which would diminish her quality of life. Unsatisfied, she sought answers elsewhere.
As Stern wrote on his website, "then the first of many miracles happened." Dr. Carol Aghajanian and Dr. David Agus told Robin "that they weren't going to prolong her life, they were on a mission for a cure."
Quivers announced this morning that after a 12 hour surgery to remove the mass(tumor) and months of chemotherapy and radiation, she is now cancer free.
