Robin Quivers cancer-free as Howard Stern talk show co-host opens up. Robin Quivers, 61, revealed that she had been battling endometrial cancer from her uterine tissue on today's broadcast. According to United Press International on Sept. 9, 2013, according to her doctors she has beaten the disease that she had been battling for the past year.
During an emotional segment on Howard Stern's Sirius XM show, Quivers explained that the cancer developed from endometrial tissue, which is found in the uterus, and that she underwent treatment last year to overcome it.
Robin Quivers cancer was discovered by doctors about a year ago when they found a grapefruit-sized mass in her pelvis. It was removed after a 8-hour surgery. Stern was extremely distraught when she announced the news of her cancer and thought about cancelling the show for a time.
'I gotta be honest, I thought she was a goner,' Stern said.
Robin Quivers cancer kept her out of the Sirius XM studio and she worked from home via ISDN line. She reported that her cancer was treated with a combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, which has proved effective. Listeners to the show were kept in the dark as to details about her illness during her absence. Out of respect for her privacy and the need to heal, it was for the best.
