In light of the many celebrities (Angelina Jolie) who have come forward and openly talked about his or her cancer diagnosis, it is a bit surprising when we learned on the Howard Stern radio show that Robin Quivers has been secretly battling cancer for over a year. All she said was that she needed to have surgery to remove a tumor from her bladder back in May, 2012.

Robin Quivers is an American radio personality, author, and actress, best known for being the long-running news anchor and co-host of The Howard Stern Show.

Quivers revealed she has undergone surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy to treat a type of cancer that originated from endometrial tissue. She claims to be cancer-free for three months.

It is important to understand her symptoms so that we can be aware of them. She was unable to urinate. A grapefruit- sized tumor was found in her pelvis. Robin will not say exactly what her cancer diagnosis was. From wikipedia "Endometrial cancer refers to several types of malignancies that arise from the endometrium, or lining, of the uterus. Endometrial cancers are the most common gynecologic cancers in developed countries, with over 142,200 women diagnosed each year. The incidence is on a slow rise secondary to an increasing population age and an increasing body mass index, with 39% of cases attributed to obesity."

Robin got a second opinion. Her first doctor suggested removing her colon. Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Newy York took another course of action saving her colon. Studies consistently show that women with gynecologic cancer have better treatment outcomes under the care of a gynecologic oncologist. source
