According to a December 21 article in the Huffington Post; A&E is expected to reinstate Phil Robertson in January. Robertson, star of the reality TV show Duck Dynasty, was suspended by A&E for controversial comments he made about homosexuality in GQ.
The article goes on to say that the other cast members were outraged that Robertson was punished for expressing his faith.
According to Wikipedia, Duck Dynasty is in its fourth season. The plot revolves around a family known for its variety of duck products and strong religious beliefs.
In 2012, Robertson, during an interview, allegedly discussed a confrontation he had with the show’s producers. The spat allegedly focused on closing prayers “in Jesus name;” as opposed to closing out prayers generically, and not offending other religions.
Prayers made on the show are believed to be censored.
Christians familiar with the controversy expressed concern over what they referred to as a spirit of intolerance that is now gripping the faithful.
“According to the Holy Bible, the tongue is still a deadly tool for building up and tearing down. How will such disgusting comments aid in the saving of souls? We also need to get back to spiritual basics. Galatians lists out a number of lifestyles that are not fit for the kingdom; but we don’t talk about them. If the family is so rooted and grounded in their faith, and is outraged at not being able to express their faith; then why not quit the show?”
Duck Dynasty is believed to have almost 15 million viewers.
Should Phil Robertson be reinstated?
