In meetings with government servants from California counties, San Diego supervisor Dave Roberts worked on plans for effective actions the county can take to step up county conditions and services. Accepting an award given to the county by the Calfiornia State Association of Counties for its leadership on energy savings took only a small part of a day on November 18th during the week spent in San Jose.
County leaders had the opportunity to hear the effect of transfer of state prisoners to county jails and programs on the recidivism rate from CAlifornia Attorney General Kamala Harris. Roberts took his opportunity to contribute to unfinished plans on making state policies effective. During a panel discussion on water supplies, he told the panel his county still faces challenges in supply reliability and cost.
The impact of Affordable Care Act had on public health in counties was part of the annual meeting work on the 20th. Roberts joined the local representatives managing the employee enrollemtns and emplooyer plan management in their counties, and compared the county healthcare blueprints.
He worked on county decisionmaking on the budget by attending a class on public engagement inthe budget process.
The annual meeting ended after a week of work on revising plans to shorten the periods rough spots in county experiments persisted during slow moving recoveries.
