BANGOR-- The University of Maine women's basketball team went on a 21-2 run in the first half and cruised to a 68-39 victory over UMBC on Wednesday evening at cross insurance center.

Ashleigh Roberts scored 12 points, including her 1000 career point. Roberts is the 17th Black Bear to reach that milestone.

Liz Wood led the Black Bears with a game high 17 points. Wood also recorded four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.

Lauren Bodine added eight points.

Chantel Charles recorded six points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Sigi Koizar chipped in with five points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Maine jumped out to a 45-21 halftime lead.

The Black Bears shot 12-32 from three point range.

They forced 18 UMBC turnovers, while only committing seven of their own.

Maine (7-8/1-1) will continue conference play, when they travel to Binghamton on Saturday.
