On Sunday, February 16, don’t miss your chance to watch Regional Mexican vocalist Roberto Tapia perform live on the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE stage.

Born in San Diego and raised in Sinaloa, Mexico, Roberto Tapia developed an interest in music at a young age. He was especially interested in playing the clarinet and entered Difocur School, a prestigious school of music. At the age of 13, his family moved back to the United States where he launched his career in music.

Initially reluctant to perform on stage, his family and friends convinced him to showcase his talents. Tapia eventually signed with Sony International and released his self-titled debut album, Roberto Tapia in 2001. In 2012, his latest album, El Machacho gave Tapia nominations for Los Premios de la Radio (The Radio Awards) in Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Best Song with Banda for “Mirando Al Cielo.”

Tapia is currently one of three coaches on La Voz Kids (The Voice Kids), a television singing competition for American Spanish-speaking children. He described his involvement on the show as one of his most important due to his relating experiences and struggles making the music industry as a child.
