Robert Pattinson has been cast as the lead in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis.
Pattinson, best known for his work in the Twilight saga, will star as Eric Packer, a financial genius who risks his entire fortune on a bet that puts his life in extreme danger. The film explores capitalism in the setting of "a slightly futuristic metropolis." Cronenberg will write and direct the script based on the novel by Don DeLillo.
Several other actors are rumored to be attached to the film, including Paul Giamatti and Marion Cotillard, but their involvement has not yet been confirmed.
Pattinson will next be seen in Water For Elephants, a historical drama based on the best-selling novel by Sara Gruen, as well as a film adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's short story Bel Ami.
