Robert Pattinson's lean physique is the key to his incredible sex appeal

Robert Pattinson, who was recently named the Sexiest Man of 2010 in a Glamour magazine poll, may be so popular with young women because of his slim, slightly effeminate, physique.

At least that's what the results of a new anthropology study suggest. New Zealand anthropologist Dr. Barnaby Dixson recently conducted research into sex appeal and gender and discovered that women generally prefer men who are less muscular than the hulking, massive bodybuilder types.

Dixson said women are attracted to leaner men with prettier faces because these males project an aura of being more attentive and accommodating as mates.

ROB IS PREFERRED OVER ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER TYPES

“On a biological level, women are more likely to pick a leaner, even slightly more effeminate, man as they equate those physical traits with being more caring and gentle and therefore a better prospect as a partner,” he said. Humans simply do not mate randomly.”

Dixson's results may help explain why the boyishly handsome 6'1" Rob Pattinson, 23, garnered more votes than the beefy 6'4" Alexander Skarsgard (No. 45) and ripped Twilight co-stars Kellan Lutz (No. 5) and Taylor Lautner (No. 2).

Of course, Pattinson's appeal could also be attributed to his self-deprecating sense of humor, talent, fantastic hair and attractive face.
