Just before Robert Pattinson was cast to star in The Twilight Saga, he was planning to give up on acting to pursue his other love, music. He only had 9 roles, most of them minor, before landing his big breakout role.
Since becoming Edward, he's taken on leading roles in three movies other than the Twilight films. There's Remember Me with Emilie de Ravin, Bel Ami with Christina Ricci and Uma Thurman, and the movie he's filming now with Reese Witherspoon, Water for Elephants. Between filming and promoting, he got no time for music. And that isn't something he's happy about.
"I haven't been [paying attention to music] for a while," he told MTV News. "I don't know why. I've just sort of not been listening to it. It's so odd when that happens. You're just like, 'I've forgotten what everything is.'"
"I've just bought a couple new guitars, and I've started trying to write things again," he said. "But I never have any time, ever ... It's kind of driving me crazy."
Rob mentioned at the beginning of his Twilight stint that he's been trying to write an album, but one can assume that's been indefinitely put on hold, which is a shame. He had two songs on the Twilight soundtrack (one appeared only as a bonus track available from iTunes), and they were impressive. So impressive that he was named one of Hollywood's Most Influential Top Unexpected Musicians by NAMM. Hopefully Rob will take a break after filming the two-part Twilight finale, Breaking Dawn, and focus on making music for a bit.
You can hear Robert Pattinson's music in the first Twilight film, which is going to be shown again in some Houston area theaters as a part of The Twilight Experience, which will include showings of all three films from The Twilight Saga: Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse.
