esterday, Robert Maday escaped from custody during a transfer. Maday was shackled, but managed to get a gun from one of the investigators, hold them at gun point, get them to unshackle him, and escape, according to the Huffington Post. Photo from wanted poster.
"He threatened them both with death and had them drive off the road,'' said Ralph DeWitt, chief investigator. "This has been a horrendous experience for the investigators."
He exchanged clothes with one of the investigators, and handcuffed the officers in the back seat of the car, they were able to get free and call 911. Until noon today, Maday took the police on a crime spree around Illinois, before being arrested around noon today.
He was caught shortly after getting into an accident in a stolen car while be chased by police, and was taken to the hospital after complaining of back pain, according to the Huffington Post.
This morning, he robbed a bank, the same bank he allegedly robbed in 2008, and made off with several thousand dollars, and then stole the car that he would later be caught in.
Local police, the FBI, the Marshall’s office and the Swat Team were all involved in hunting Robert Maday down and arresting him.
