It is with sad news that Robert H. Kennedy died April 12, 2012. Tosca Reno, wife of the publishing pioneer, announced on her blog that Kennedy has passed; succumbing to his battle with cancer with his wife and children by his side. He was 73 years old.
Robert Kennedy was the true love of my life. I am blessed to have been with him and to know such love is rare. He showed me how to live my life as one filled with possibilities.
Through him I became what I am today, a story that is familiar to many others who have been touched by Bob’s generous, warm and colorful spirit. What I have lost I will continue to feel for months to come. What Robert gave me will fill me for my lifetime. To walk this path without him is by far the biggest weight I have lifted yet though Robert trained me well. The grace will come from seeing all the miracles we have planted together bear fruit. Robert would have loved that.
Goodbye my dear husband, friend and mentor. Until I see you again.
It was announced on Reno’s blog on April 9, 2012, that Kennedy’s illness was terminal. The announcement was a shock, and an ultimate feeling of loss within in the bodybuilding and fitness community even before his death. Kennedy shaped so much of the fitness industry, as well as the lives of women trying to find a "healthier place" in life through his books and magazines.
Over the past few days, updates have been made to share his last moments with friends, fans and supporters. Photos of loved ones and friends; including Arnold Schwarzenegger, grace Reno's blog as well as a myriad of condolence messages.
This is a legendary loss for those he has helped or touched.
