According to Sportsline.com, Robert Griffin III is “fuming” over his impending benching at the hands of Mike Shanahan. On Thursday, Mike Silver of the NFL Network reported that RG III is “extremely angry” over the past week’s events. Although it’s been reported that the move is to prevent Griffin from getting hurt, it’s evident that the move was based off of performance and production.
In fact, nobody in their right mind believes the move to deactivate Robert Griffin III is to save Griffin from an injury. As John Madden stated a couple of days ago, the whole Redskins’ organization is dysfunctional right now.
Whether or not this is a power move by Mike Shanahan to get fired by Dan Snyder, or to prove that he can win games with Kirk Cousins, it might be time for all parties to move on.
If Robert Griffin isn’t the guy to lead the Redskins into the future, Examiner.com has rational move in mind. Washington should trade RG III to accumulate draft picks. With a move like this, the trust within the organization could be irrevocably broken.
According to Ian Rapoport, a source close to the Washington coaching staff says that they “want to be put out of their misery.” From that stand point, it sounds like the coaching staff has quit on the season. Now what player would want to be part of this equation?
This might not even be a good place for Kirk Cousins. According to WR Santana Moss, the coaching staff put Cousins in a situation to fail. Moss claims that the final three weeks aren’t just bad for Griffin, this could be a tremendous setback for Kirk Cousins as well.
