Robert Ellis can take even the seemingly mundane stuff of life, such as painting a house, and turn it into a meaningful, metaphorical song gem. Many such fine songs can be found on his latest album, appropriately titled “Photographs,” out in 2011 on New West. The album received great acclaim, including American Songwriter Magazine listing it in the top 50 albums of 2011.
Ellis got his start in the Houston, Texas area performing as Robert Ellis & The Boys. He eventually self-released his debut album, “The Great Rearranger.”
I had the chance to catch up with Ellis shortly after he performed solo acoustic at the 2013 Stagecoach festival. Ellis looks quite different from the way he did when he first started out. Gone is the long hair he had during those early days. It’s be replaced by a short, sharp look, instead. His hair may have changed, but that same songwriting skill is still getting better all the time. To read more, please click here: http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/robert_ellis/
