Robert Downey, Jr.’s son was arrested in West Hollywood cocaine possession and released on $10,000 bond. Indio, 20, was a passenger in a car that was pulled over at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and La Cienga during a routine traffic stop.

The report, dated June 30, says that following his arrest Indio Downey posted $10,000 bail and was released at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday morning. Sgt. Arballo of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department confirmed Indio’s arrest. The sheriff’s report states that the arresting officers found Indio smoking from a pipe. Indio Downey’s mother, Deborah Falconer married Robert Downey, Jr. 42 days after their first date in 1992 and welcomed their son into the world on Sept. 7, 1993. Falconer and Downey were married for nearly 12 years, but his repeated trips to rehab and subsequent imprisonment destroyed the marriage and the couple divorced in 2004.

Robert Downey, Jr.’s substance abuse also destroyed his relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker. The couple began dating after meeting on the set of the movie “Firstborn” in 1984. Parker, who has said she believe she was the person holding Downey together, broke off the relationship in 1991. Parker was introduced to actor Matthew Broderick by his brother and the couple married in 1997.

In a statement following Indio’s arrest, Robert Downey, Jr., 49, star of such movies as “Iron Man” and “Tropic Thunder,” said that there is a genetic component in drug addiction and unfortunately his son may have inherited it. Downey also stated that the family has rallied around his son and they are determined to help him become the man he is capable of being. Downey also expressed gratitude to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department for their intervention. Indio Downey’s family is certain that with the love and support of his family he can become another recovery story for substance abuse instead of a cautionary tale.
