Robert Downey Jr.'s son arrested for possession of cocaine

On Sunday, Robert Downey Jr.'s 20 year old son, Indio Falconer Downey was arrested on drug possession charges. Downey posted bail of $10,250. Indio was released shortly after midnight. His court date is scheduled for August 29.

"Indio Downey was a passenger in a vehicle stopped around 2 p.m. Sunday," Stated Sgt. Dave Valentine of The West Hollywood Sheriff's Station . "Downey was found to be in possession of what officers believed to be cocaine as well as a smoking pipe. Downey was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and posted bail around 9 p.m. that same evening."

Robert Downey Jr. stood behind his son stating: "There is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being," Downey Jr said. "We're grateful to the Sheriff's department for their intervention and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."

A representative from Robert Downey Jr. remarked: "Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it."

Indio Downey is a singer and guitarist for the L.A. band the Seems. Indio has been in a few films, one of them when he was nine years old. He played a younger version of his father's lead role in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang."

Indio's father has struggled with drug addiction in the 1990s. Downey Jr. has been to treatment on quite a new occasions. Two of those facilities include California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison. He turned his life around and got sober in 2001.

Indio Downey's mother is Deborah Falconer, Robert Downey Jr.'s first wife. Downey and Falconer were married for almost 12 years when they divorced in 2004.
