VDKA 6100 is simply one of the smoothest vodkas you may be lucky enough to taste. The brand launched February 14 in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and had an amazing launch party April 17 at Marquee (289 10th Ave.).
The vodka's name pays homage to Australia's country code, and is distilled in New Zealand. The crystal clear, minimalist bottle was created by New York designer Joe Doucet, handcrafted by a French manufacturer, and given a silver lid and cork that was designed in Italy. Adding to the international mystique of VDKA 6100, Australian casino mogul James Packer and American movie legend Robert De Niro both have stakes in the brand.
"I’m very proud to be associated with the creative team behind the launch of VDKA 6100. It will be personally rewarding to be a part of its growth,” De Niro said in a press release.
Artisan Spirit Merchants (ASM) CEO Tim Szonyi explained what makes the vodka so unique.
“Greatness is born of collaboration,” he said.
“We tapped the best craftsmen from around the world to give life to VDKA 6100, the world’s first global vodka.
“We distill our vodka in New Zealand from whey and the result is a cleaner, purer vodka which is gluten free, sugar free, and lactose free.”
ASM Chairman of the Board, Margaret Jackson, echoed that sentiment in an exclusive interview with Examiner.com.
“It’s such a smooth vodka,” she said. “It’s made from a very special, pure water from New Zealand. We’re very proud of the vodka we’ve made.”
British journalist Sharon Carpenter was also in attendance at the NYC launch, and told Examiner.com that she was looking forward to trying VDKA 6100 because Robert De Niro is involved, and because it is an international brand—not unlike Carpenter herself.
The British beauty also shared how she likes her vodka served.
“I like my vodka usually with cranberry,” she said. “I like it sweet. A little twist of lime... always works well that way.”
The launch party also included a live band, an aerialist, spectacular hors d’oeuvres, and of course, VDKA 6100 sponsored cocktails.
