Robert Curran and his union brothers should stop trying to rip off Baltimore taxpayers

Yesterday Bill Henry introduced his pro-union bill to the City Council. I watched it over the Internet thanks to the people at BmoreFiber! Click here to view the BmoreFiber channel. Thanks for bringing city council into the modern era!

Councilman Henry presented his bill in a very calm and professional manner. He stressed how it would bring jobs to Baltimore (it won't). After he made his presentation he asked if any other councilperson would like to sign on to the Bill. Robert Curran of the 3rd district then announced that he was once part of a union and he supported his "union brothers". This made me sick. Councilman Curran should be loyal to the citizens of Baltimore instead of his "union brothers". This bill will enrich his union buddies and help further bankrupt the city! The Mayor of Baltimore is currently looking for ways to cut city expenses, this is commendable and necessary. If this bill is passed then the city is going to end up paying inflated union salaries instead of paying contractors who offer the best deals. City expenses will increase because of this bill!  Curran's remarks clearly identify this bill for what it really is, another union payoff by politicians who are "union brothers".

Adam Meister must be paid by big business. I am a union member and a Baltimore City resident. Just because you show donations made by Local Unions does not mean that Councilman Curran is a bad person. What it means to me is that Councilman Curran is a person that stands for the working class which is why Local Unions donated to his campaign. It's the same way with big business; they donate to the campaigns that have their interest at heart, which is ripping off the working class. This legislation will guarantee a living wage, affordable health care, and a dependable retirement for the residents of Baltimore City. This legislation will guarantee Baltimore City residents a top of the line education free of cost. This legislation will guarantee the rebuilding of the middle class for Baltimore City residents. Adam Meister, if you want to retain an education on how the Unions have help to build the middle class, which big business is trying to destroy visit www.youngtradeunionists.org

amen Cory! Clearly Mr. Meister has no understanding of solidarity-there is a reason why union people call each other brother and sister-it is because we are all part of the human family and should be looking after one another. But then he wouldn't understand that...too busy looking out for himself no doubt. Hooray for Robert Curran!!!

I'm a union member and I don't want my money going to any politician. Especiall to one who okayed the laying off my so called UNION BROTHERS & SISTERS. You union members are so full of it that you have to have an organization to protect your job. Why doesn't your good work and pricing speak for you? If you belief that this legislation will guarantee a living wage, affordable health care, top of the line education free of cost and dependable retirement for the residents of Baltimore, I want what Cory is smoking because it must put you in never-never land. Why are schools closing now, workers getting laid off, companies dipping into workers pension funds now aka (STATE of Maryland) which has underfunded its pension system for over the last 20 years. One thing I notice about people is that they do not understand the free marketing concept. If government controls everything then nothing gets invented, jobs are not created and profits are not made. When has the gov't ever created a profit?

Cory, unions destroyed the auto industry in this country!
You say "Curran is a person that stands for the working class"
as if non union people are chopped liver?

Everybody wants something free don't they.

I was raised to believe nothing is worth having unless you earned it. I guess that is different than many who believe nothing is worth having if you can get someone else to pay forit.
How sad to live life that way.

Thank you for bringing this information to light. And thanks for the backup info!

I think scoopworthy should give his union job to someone who deserves it. If you hate it so much go work for peanuts at a nonunion job. By the way haters-not everyone who works for a union is asking for something for nothing. Unions level the playing field so that workers get a fair shake. What is more "freemarket" than that? Conservatives ran this country into the ground for years-that is how we got into the mess we are in. Wake up people!
