Robby Krieger is lining up his new year schedule, at least for January. Krieger has announced two new dates for his Jam Kitchen Band. The first is at the Canyon Club in Agoura, California, the other at the Backstage Bar in Las Vegas, Nevada. For tickets and more information you can visit Robby Krieger’s Jam Kitchen website, or follow the links to the venue’s websites.
If you want to follow Krieger and his band he’s playing two New Year’s Eve shows with Gov’t Mule at the Beacon Theatre in New York on December 30 and 31st.
Krieger will also be playing at the Whisky a go-go for their 50th anniversary celebration on January 16th (see article Robby Krieger Keynote Band for Whisky’s 50th Anniversary), and with Krieger’s joint appearance with John Densmore at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on December 5th in which they played a surprise set of four songs, it has fueled more internet speculation on a larger Krieger/Densmore reunion. Both have in the past have said that they’d like to have a reunion to honor the memory of Ray Manzarek, who passed away May 20th of cancer (see related articles below), and have it on Manzarek’s birthday (February 12) possibly at The Whisky. But so far no venue has been set for such a reunion despite rampant speculation that it will happen. Since Krieger and Densmore have already done one surprise Doors set wouldn’t the 50th anniversary of the Whisky a go-go’s opening be an appropriate venue for such a reunion? Without getting too Rona Barrett or Hedda Hopper on you, I haven’t heard that this reunion will happen, Krieger and Densmore haven’t hinted that it will happen at the Whisky (neither did they mention anything about a musical set for the LACMA appearance either), but perhaps it’s an educated guess?
