Robbers think KFC is a jewelry store, decide to rob the place anyway

A duo of thick-headed robbers think KFC is a jewelry store, and still decided to rob the place. The pair of Australian thieves initial plans were to hack through a wall with an iron bar into Wrights Jewellers, but instead found themselves smelling the aroma of fried chicken.

The botched jewelry heist occured near Brisbane, Australia, on New Year's Eve UK Yahoo! reported on Jan. 4. Thankfully, no one was injured during this rather unusual and brazen robbery.

Australia's Sky News released the following statement regarding the incident:

"The pair smashed their way through a wall in a communal toilet block tunnel, hoping to enter Wrights Jewellers. Instead, they found themselves in a land of herbs and spices."

The suspects, Peter Welsh and Dwayne Doolan, escaped with about $2,700 in cash from the KFC. However, and not surprisingly, their escape was short-lived. They were arrested a short time later when police raided Welsh's home.
