Robber armed with cattle prod stopped by handgun weilding clerk

Chalk one up for the use of a handgun stopping a crime as Florida police claim a convenience store clerk armed with a handgun stymied a robbery attempt in Florida.

Lance Tomberland entered into a Tallahassee-area convenience store armed with a cattle prod on Jan. 2. Tomberland demanded the clerk to empty the register of cash. Tomberland shocked the clerk a few times with the cattle prod when the clerk was not working quickly enough to procure the cash from the store.

The clerk had enough and pulled out a handgun.

Tomberland fled the store at the sight of the gun. He fought off a second clerk, hopped into his waiting truck, and fled the scene. Police stopped Tomberland in his truck following the failed robbery, but he fled the vehicle on foot.

Florida police arrested Tomberland last week on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The name of the clerk was not released.
