Rob Morrison, NY television anchor accused of choking CBS anchor wife

Rob Morrison, a New York television news anchor is accused of choking his wife during a fight in their home and continuing to threaten her even after police had arrested him according to a Feb. 18 report by The Washington Post.

It was Morrison’s mother-in-law who called police in the early morning hours Sunday. The call was placed from Morrison’s Darien home. Police say that Morrison was reportedly belligerent to his wife, Ashley Morrison, a CBS financial news anchor, throughout the night and then choked her, leaving red marks on her neck.

Morrison was heard making more threats against his wife by arresting officers. Ashley did not seek medical attention.

A bloody cut on the bridge of his nose and a swollen lower lip can be seen in Morrison’s mug shot.

Charged with strangulation, threatening and disorderly conduct, Morrison is expected in court on Tuesday after posting the $150,000 bond.

The couple’s attorney, Robert Skovgaard gave a statement on the couple’s behalf, saying they were both cooperating with authorities. “The Morrisons are confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated,” he told reporters.

Robert has worked as a combat correspondent, reporter and anchor for WNBC-TV before taking the anchor job with WCBS-TV for their “This Morning” and “News at Noon” programs. Ashley Morrison previously worked for Bloomberg Television. She currently anchors “CBS MoneyWatch.” The couple has one son.
