Rob Kardashian's rumored 100-pound weight gain and erratic behavior has his family and friends concerned for his mental and physical health. Rob, who skipped his sister Kim's wedding at the last minute, also purged his Twitter feed again after recently lashing out at fat-shamers.
"Friends at the wedding expressed serious concern for him," a Kardashian family friend told People. "When I saw him, it looked like something was very wrong. I'm not sure it's solely related to weight gain. His friends and family are rooting for him."
Rob Has Extremely Low Serotonin
Rob's sister Kourtney remarked that Rob's serotonin levels were dangerously low on a recent episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." Low serotonin causes depression, anxiety and other mood disorders.
Rob, 27, has been struggling to lose weight for the past two years. The sock designer attended Kim's wedding rehearsal in Paris May 23, but abruptly flew back home to Los Angeles the next morning, hours before the actual ceremony.
Sources said Rob was embarrassed by his 100-pound weight gain and felt out of place with all the slim, attractive guests at Kim's star-studded wedding. Reports claim Rob did not want to be filmed or photographed at the lavish event because he thought he looked fat.
Rob recently made headlines after hitting back at fat-shamers on Twitter who mocked him over his appearance. "So I found out I was trending for being fat,"he tweeted. "Thank you all, it really made my day.
To the blogs saying I went to fat camp or rehab, LOL. Then why am i still fat, u fools?? y'all must have run out of real news. First, i don't believe in rehab or therapy, and second I'm a grown man and will work on myself when i choose. I'm aware that I'm fat. that def aint a surprise to me lol. and my only therapy will be in the gym. anyways, had to say something."
On Verge of Having Kidney Failure and Diabetes
The 5-foot-10 Rob, who reportedly weighs more than 260 pounds, has made no secret of his struggle to slim down. Rob's weight has made numerous headlines, as reports surfaced that he was considering stomach-stapling surgery or going to fat camp.
Rob's weight has been a running theme on Keeping Up With the Kardashians for the past two years. On a recent episode, a doctor's visit revealed Rob was in danger of developing diabetes and kidney problems.
“Your liver is shutting down,” said Rob's mother, Kris Jenner. “This is life-threatening at this point. You can only sustain this level of being unhealthy for so long.”
Rob had a rippling physique when he first starred on Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2007. He remained in phenomenal shape until 2012, when he went through an ugly breakup with singer Rita Ora. Rob's sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney have all expressed concern that his weight gain has made him reclusive.
Rob has since vowed to lose weight by hitting the gym every day with his trainer, Gunnar Peterson. Gunnar told TMZ Rob texted him when he landed in L.A., saying he has decided to embark on a serious weight-loss program.
Peterson, creator of Core Secrets: 25 Minute Full Body Workout, helped Khloe Kardashian lose 30 pounds last year. He also trains Kim Kardashian, who lost 56 pounds in six months on a low-carb ketogenic Atkins diet.
Gunnar said he plans to put Rob through rigorous hour-long, high-intensity workouts that will combine cardio exercise and weight training.
Meanwhile, newly married Kim has maintained her stunning 56-pound weight loss by working out daily and following the low-carb Atkins diet, a high-fat ketogenic-style diet known for producing rapid weight loss.
Kim said losing the baby weight was the hardest thing she had ever done, but also one of the most rewarding. "I work out so hard and this was such a challenge for me but I did it!" she tweeted. "I'm so proud of my accomplishment."
