Depressed Rob Kardashian vows 50-lb weight loss: Kim shed 56 on ketogenic diet

Rob Kardashian is determined to lose 50 pounds, and is getting lots of support from family members, including new brother-in-law, Kanye West, WebPro reported Sept. 1. “[Kanye West] has been reaching out to him more and showing he cares," said a source.

Kardashian is tired of being fat and depressed and recently embarked on a diet and workout regimen with sister Khloe, with whom he's living. On the Aug. 31 episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," Rob shocked his family by skipping sister Kim's wedding after feeling unhappy with his weight and appearance. "He feels so ugly," said Khloe.

Even though Kim was upset that Rob ditched her wedding, she said he had gone into a deep depression after reading nasty online comments ridiculing his weight. “When Rob flew to Paris, he read some nasty comments about himself and he just didn’t feel comfortable," said Kim. "He didn’t want to see all my guests. It makes me so sad for him. It’s heartbreaking."

Rob Feels Fat and Depressed Over 100-Pound Weight Gain

Rob's recent weight gain (rumored to be between 70 and 100 pounds) has been an ongoing source of concern for the Kardashian family, who is not only worried about his physical health, but his emotional well-being. Rob's sisters have repeatedly remarked that his weight problems have made him extremely reclusive.

In addition to skipping Kim's wedding, Rob was a no-show at numerous recent family outings and vacations. He was rarely seen on the latest season of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

The 5-foot-10 Rob, who reportedly weighs more than 260 pounds, has made no secret of his struggle to slim down. Rob's weight has made numerous headlines, as reports surfaced that he was considering stomach-stapling surgery or going to fat camp. A recent doctor's visit revealed Rob was in danger of developing diabetes and kidney failure. Sister Kourtney remarked that Rob's serotonin levels had gotten dangerously low. Low serotonin causes depression, anxiety and other mood disorders.

Rob's mother, Kris Jenner, recently revealed she cries herself to sleep every night worrying about his physical and psychological health. However, Rob may soon be turning the corner, as his entire family is supporting him in his weight loss efforts. Rob is reportedly following a junk food-free diet and working out rigorously. The once athletic Rob previously had a rippling physique, and can there again, said his family.

Kim's Weight Loss Due to Waist Training and Ketogenic Atkins Diet

Meanwhile, sister Kim Kardashian recently lost seven pounds with a low carb ketogenic style diet, rigorous workouts and "corset waist training," which involves wearing a corset for extended periods of time to make it smaller. Kim reportedly did waist training in the weeks leading up to her May 24 wedding to regain her signature hourglass figure.

After giving birth to daughter North in June 2013, Kim lost 56 pounds in six months by following a low-carb, high-fat ketogenic-style Atkins diet that limited her daily carb intake to less than 60 grams. Focusing on healthy fats and limiting carbs promotes rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, said ketogenic diet expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.

Separately, Rob's stepfather, Bruce Jenner, has made headlines over his rumored Spanx obsession, which have fueled rumors that he's seeking a sex change in order to become a woman.
