According to NFL.com, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has suffered a torn ACL. Gronkowski is scheduled for a MRI on Monday. Unfortunately, it looks like the originally diagnosis will be confirmed.
The New England Patriots must have suffered through a myriad of emotions during Sunday’s miraculous win over the Cleveland Browns. On one hand, the Patriots must be thrilled with the victory, but they’d rather have Rob Gronkowski in the lineup for the rest of the season.
Rob Gronkowski took a hellacious hit by T.J. Ward to his lower body. While some people may think it was a dirty hit, the play was obviously clean. The NFL is so scared of head injuries, they took the mid section out of the game. A large number of penalties are called because the receiver ducks their head into the contact.
Now the Patriots have to go forward without their best pass catcher in Gronkowski. In the first month of the season, New England was patiently waiting for their tight end to comeback from injury. Even when the passing game was struggling, there was always a sliver of hope about the impact that Rob Gronkowski would have during the postseason.
As Gronkowski was carted off the field, one couldn’t help but think that the New England Super Bowl hopes took a direct hit in 2013-14 season. Still, it will be tough to count out the New England Patriots as they vie for home field advantage.
