Rob Gronkowski injury update news is bad for fantasy football owners. The New England Patriots have ruled out Gronkowski for the Week One game against the Buffalo Bills. According to a report from ESPN on Saturday (September 7), the tight end simply isn't ready to take the field yet.
The All Pro tight end is still trying to come back from offseason surgeries on his left forearm and back. There had been some hope that he could return in time for the first game of the 2013 season, but it just hasn't worked out for him. It will force the team to go with several unproven players at tight end. Currently it looks like Michael Hoomanawanui and rookie Zach Sudfeld will get to see a lot of that action.
This isn't entirely unexpected, but it can be frustrating for any fantasy football owners that had hoped he might make a miraculous recovery. It had seemed at the beginning of training camp that he might miss at least a few games, so there has been a lot of time for the Patriots to prepare for life without its best receiver.
While this Rob Gronkowski injury update might be frustrating for Patriots fans and quarterback Tom Brady, at least it is looking like he could still be ready in time for Week Two.
