Roast beef recipe: Crockpot roast beef slowed cooked with oranges

Crockpots are the busy person’s gift from heaven! Not only do they cook your dinner in your absence, but the slow cooking melds together the ingredients so well that you come home to an amazing meal. This roast beef recipe combines such wonderful flavors, and your crock pot will slow cook them to perfection.

When you put the ingredients in your crockpot, remember that the heat will release juices which will bathe the roast beef. Therefore, put the roast beef between the ingredients. They will all run together to make end result fabulous.

So is there a difference between roasts? Since you’re cooking the meat in a crockpot, so it will slow cook to a state of tenderness, you should use chuck roasts or shoulder roasts. These have more connective tissue and more fat, so you need the slow cooking to make them tender and the fat adds to the flavor. You can use any cut of meat, but why waste a more expensive cut when you don’t have to?

The gravy made from the drippings of this roast beef recipe is absolutely delicious. The flavors blend to a perfect taste.

Crockpot Roast Beef Recipe

Ingredients for Crockpot Roast Beef:

  • 1 large onion, thickly sliced
  • 2.5 – 3.5 roast beef
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg
  • ½ tsp. ginger
  • 1 – 2 large oranges, quartered
  • 1 cup red wine

Directions for making Crockpot Roast Beef:

In the bottom of a crockpot, layer the onion slices evenly. Place the beef on top and sprinkle it evenly with the allspice. Put the orange quarters over the beef and pour the wine over all. Put on low and cook for 7 – 8 hours.
